Today, GRAMMY-winning Country group The Band Perry kick off a thrilling new chapter with their all-new song “Pistol.” A tale of flirtation gone spectacularly wrong, the ferocious and wildly fun anthem unveils the cinematic Southern Gothic universe of their forthcoming album. Since making an explosive return in early 2026 with “PSYCHOLOGICAL” (their first new music in nine years), The Band Perry have brought a fearless new intensity to their vibrant brand of Country, casting a powerful spell with songs of danger and desire. Written by frontwoman Kimberly Perry, Jaren Johnston (Koe Wetzel, Miranda Lambert), and Lauren Hungate (Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde), “Pistol” pushes their Southern Gothic storytelling into even bolder territory, centering on a larger-than-life heroine who wears her independence as a badge of honor.  

The Band Perry open “Pistol” with a glorious blast of swagger and grit, thanks in part to contributions from A-list musicians like four-time GRAMMY-winning fiddle player Stuart Duncan (George Strait, Alison Krauss) and guitarist Ilya Toshinskiy (Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan). Produced by Dann Huff (Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts), the hot-tempered track bristles with an intoxicating energy as Kimberly faces off against a wannabe cowboy attempting to knock her off her feet (from the first verse: “There’s still tags on his Stetson / ‘Bout to shoot off my mouth / Like a pearl Smith and Wesson”). By the time Huff tears into a blistering guitar solo at the bridge, she’s more than proved her unstoppable power, commanding the scene with her fiery confidence and formidable charisma.

 

“Pistol” arrives on the heels of “You Lie (Forever Version)”: a revamped rendition of their PLATINUM-certified 2010 smash, brought to new life with breakout singer/songwriter Kaitlin Butts. Released last month and praised by major publications like Rolling Stone (who declared that the track “ripples with the charisma of two of country’s most magnetic performers”), The Band Perry’s revved-up update of “You Lie” followed a red-hot streak of singles including “PSYCHOLOGICAL” along with the darkly witty “Buzzards” and fiercely haunting “Kill It.”

As the anticipation builds for their new album, The Band Perry are currently storming stages across North America on the Psycho Rodeo Tour.
