Today, RECORDS Nashville/Columbia singer-songwriter-guitarist Ty Myers returns with a powerfully felt cover of “Always On My Mind,” the beloved ballad famously recorded by Willie Nelson (one of his greatest musical influences). Featuring emerging singer/songwriter Carter Faith, “Always On My Mind” finds the 19-year-old phenomenon updating the Country classic with a soulful sensibility all his own. The song premieres just weeks before Myers shares the stage with Nelson for a pair of September shows alongside Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts, followed by an appearance at Farm Aid 2026. Go here to listen to “Always On My Mind” (feat. Carter Faith) now.
The first glimpse at a close-to-the-heart album coming soon from Myers, “Always On My Mind” arrives in the thick of yet another milestone-packed season for the Texas-bred musician. To that end, Myers was recently named to Billboard’s 21 Under 21 Class of 2026, joining the likes of global pop juggernaut KATSEYE in an elite round-up of music’s fastest-rising young stars. Further cementing his reputation as a supremely gifted guitarist, Myers was also selected for the Fender Next Class of 2026 — a handpicked group of global breakthrough artists shaping the future of guitar music and culture.
Myers’ first new music since his acclaimed sophomore album Heavy On The Soul (a chart-climbing LP released in March), “Always On My Mind” carries the song’s extraordinary legacy into a new generation. Written by Johnny Christopher, Mark James, and Wayne Carson in the early 1970s and recorded by Elvis Presley in 1972, the yearning and remorseful love song became a cornerstone of the Country canon thanks to Willie Nelson’s version — a 1982 crossover smash that earned three GRAMMY Awards, including Song of the Year. In a heartfelt homage to Nelson’s rendition, Myers stays true to the song’s devastating restraint, fully inhabiting its portrait of a man contending with all the ways he’s failed the one he loves.
Produced by his frequent collaborator Brandon Hood, Myers’ cover of “Always On My Mind” expands on the timeless musicality showcased on Heavy On The Soul and his GOLD-certified debut album The Select — a 2025 release featuring his PLATINUM-certified hits "Ends of the Earth," "Thought It Was Love," and "Drinkin' Alone." After opening with a symphonic sweep of strings, the track strips back to a delicate backdrop of piano and steel guitar (courtesy of Nashville session legend Bruce Bouton), spotlighting the quiet power of Myers’ vocal work. At the second verse, Faith joins Myers and brings a tender new dimension to the song’s emotional push-and-pull, with the arrangement gradually expanding around their intertwined voices. In a particularly breathtaking moment, the bridge to “Always On My Mind” swells to a stirring peak as Myers delivers an impassioned plea for reconciliation, then gives way to a gorgeously sparse guitar solo.
Adding even more resonance to his tribute to Nelson, Myers will soon share the stage with the Outlaw Country hero for a series of major September appearances. On September 22 and 24, he’ll join Willie Nelson & Family and Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts as a special guest for a pair of co-headlining shows at Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT, and TD Pavilion at the Mann in Philadelphia, PA. Just two days later (9/26), he’ll make his Farm Aid debut at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, VA, joining an all-star lineup that also includes Nelson and Young, as well as John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, and more. The appearance marks an especially fitting milestone for Myers, who grew up on his family’s cattle ranch outside Austin. Tickets for Myers’ September shows with Nelson and Young go on sale today (8/21) at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster.
As Myers continues his unstoppable ascent on the live circuit, his recently recorded debut performance at Austin City Limits for Season 52 will air on October 31. Tonight (8/21), he brings The Legal Tour to a SOLD-OUT stop at The Fruit Yard Chicken Ranch Casino & Resort Amphitheater in Modesto, CA — the latest date on a massive headline run that marks his most ambitious outing yet. After launching The Legal Tour in June, Myers headed overseas for a series of stadium dates supporting Luke Combs, wrapping up with an August 2 show at the 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium in the UK. With dates currently scheduled through November 21, major shows still ahead include Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (August 30) and the Moody Center in Austin, TX (November 20).
