After months of sky-high anticipation, Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records singer/songwriter Megan Moroney’s new album Cloud 9 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — the definitive all-genre chart that ranks the most popular albums. Released on February 20 to widespread acclaim, the MULTI-PLATINUM sensation’s third studio LP marks her first time reaching the top spot on the Billboard 200, beating out global juggernauts and solidifying her status as one of modern Country’s most formidable stars. “Not to be cliche but I’m on cloud 9!” Moroney exclaims. “I have to give credit to my fans, they’re the best in the world. To have them embrace an album like this is a dream come true. I can’t wait till we’re screaming these songs together on THE CLOUD 9 TOUR!”
With 147,000 equivalent album units in its first week — including 78,000 album sales and 69,000 streaming equivalent album units (SEA) — Cloud 9 is not only Moroney’s best first-week sales to date, but also delivered the highest first-week in total consumption for any Country artist so far in 2026.
Fueled by the smash success of her GOLD-certified Country radio No. 1 hit “6 Months Later” and Billboard Hot 100-charting Country radio hit “Beautiful Things,” the 15-song stunner also entered Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart at the No. 1 spot and triumphed as the top-selling physical album of the week. In a testament to Moroney’s meteoric rise, Cloud 9 raises the bar set by its blockbuster forerunner, Am I Okay? — a 2024 album that launched at No. 9 on the Billboard 200, emerging as the year’s third-biggest debut from a female Country artist.
Saturday (2/28) in Scottsdale, AZ, Moroney wrapped up her rapturously received “9 Cities. 9 Days.” — a fan-focused celebration of Cloud 9, in which she made exclusive appearances at intimate venues in nine cities across the country. With the exception of her stops in Scottsdale (an exclusive pop-up at La La Land Kind Café) and Athens, GA (home to her alma mater, the University of Georgia), “9 Cities. 9 Days.” found Moroney performing a three-song acoustic set at each event and signing autographs for every attendee. During her stop in Athens, she took the stage at Akins Ford Arena and performed Cloud 9 in its entirety, accompanied by special guests Mackenzie Carpenter and Micah Carpenter (two of her longtime collaborators).
