Last Thursday and Friday (10/2 and 10/3), Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records singer/songwriter Megan Moroney brought her history-making AM I OKAY? TOUR to a SOLD-OUT two-night stand at legendary venue, The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Just two years after making her L.A. headlining debut at the 500-capacity Troubadour, the MULTI-PLATINUM star commanded a crowd of 5,900 per night, solidifying her status as an era-defining talent.
Featuring support from singer/songwriter Solon Holt, Moroney’s back-to-back blowout at The Greek Theatre marked one of her final stops on the AM I OKAY? TOUR — a colossal headline run named for the Georgia-bred artist’s game-changing and highly acclaimed sophomore LP. After blasting off with “Man on the Moon,” she tore through an unstoppable set spanning from her 4X PLATINUM No. 1 breakout “Tennessee Orange” to her recent smash single “6 Months Later” (Top 25-and-climbing at Country radio), as well as a crowd-igniting streak of fan favorites and classic deep cuts that kept the audience screaming along to every line.
Closing out the night with “Am I Okay?” (her PLATINUM-certified No. 1 smash), Moroney garnered rave reviews from the likes of Billboard, who noted that “the self-proclaimed ‘Emo Cowgirl’ brought a performance full of heart, sass, confidence and good vibes.” In addition, Billboard highlighted that “[o]nly a few years into her career, Moroney was able to craft a 26-song setlist of all her own songs, no filler…It’s also a testament to Moroney and her savvy when putting together albums with virtually no filler and her strength as a songwriter, especially for someone so young.”
Adding to her bevy of appearances, Moroney brought CMT Hot 20 along for a behind-the-scenes look at her AM I OKAY? TOUR stop in Charleston, SC (9/12) where host Carissa Culiner surprised her with three plaques to celebrate the RIAA GOLD certifications of Am I Okay? album plus songs “Mama I Lied” and “Girl in the Mirror.” Watch here. Next up, the reigning CMA New Artist of the Year will travel coast to coast to appear on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. Tune in this Tuesday, October 7 at 12:35 am ET / 11:35 pm CT for an exclusive interview about her rapid-fire rise to massive Country stardom.
Last week on YouTube, Moroney shared a gorgeous performance of her unreleased song “Beautiful Things” live from her September 12 tour stop at Credit One Stadium in Charleston (another SOLD-OUT show that marked her first time as a stadium headliner) — go here to watch now. A heart-melting track penned for her young niece, the unforgettably tender ode quickly gained notice from major outlets like iHeartCountry and American Songwriter, who stated that “[w]ith ‘Beautiful Things,’ Moroney not only gave her niece a lifelong gift but also offered fans a heartfelt reminder of the power of love and kindness.” Meanwhile, Holler hailed “Beautiful Things” as the latest in a series of top-tier tracks teased for Moroney’s forthcoming third LP, then predicted that “MM3 will be a candidate for Album of the Year.”
In another fan-pleasing release, Moroney’s magnetic take on Toby Keith’s “Who's Your Daddy?” is available on all streaming platforms as of last Wednesday (10/1). Featured on Apple Music Nashville Sessions: Toby Keith Covered (a six-song compilation released via Apple Music in July), Moroney’s update of the sweet-talking anthem earned praise from Taste of Country, who remarked that “Megan Moroney proves that ‘Who’s Your Daddy?’ sounds terrific with a feminine touch.”
Just before heading to Los Angeles, Moroney took the stage at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on September 30 — check out her personal recap here. This Friday through Sunday (October 10, 11, and 12), she’ll wrap up the SOLD-OUT AM I OKAY? TOUR with three consecutive nights at the Texas Trust CU Theatre in Dallas, capping off a massive headline run that’s also included two-night stands at famed venues like New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, Nashville’s The Pinnacle, Las Vegas’ The Theater at Virgin Hotels, Savannah’s Enmarket Arena, and more. Along with drawing a record-breaking crowd at the Illinois State Fair (15,532 fans) and topping attendance records at the Iowa State Fair as the most attended Grandstand act this year (16,371 fans), Moroney’s July 26 stop at Wyoming’s Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo shattered the record for number of tickets sold for a female artist, with over 20,400 fans in attendance.
