In the midst of a prolific season, Country-Soul singer-songwriter Drake White ignites new single of Southern nostalgia entitled “Nights on Fire” out now. He notably co-wrote the track with Phil O’Donnell [Blake Shelton, George Strait] who also produced the track. Debuting internationally on BBC Radio 2's 'The Country Show with Bob Harris' last night, listen to the song here.
Across “Nights on Fire,” piano glimmers behind gently strummed chords and soft slide guitar. White leans into soulful verses as he sets an enviably idyllic scene, “Honeysuckle blooming / Silver buckle ‘Bama mooning / An army blanket on the banks of the Coosa River red clay.” His vocals practically smolder on the seismic refrain, “Nights on fire…it was free bird and long days and California dreaming / Old flames and burning small town bridges with desire.” The emotion eventually overflows and bursts into flames carried by a hummable and hypnotic guitar solo. Ultimately, “Nights on Fire” showcases the breadth of his boundary-breaking signature style at its most powerful and passionate.
In other big news, White just previewed his new documentary, The Hunts the Healing, during an intimate premiere and party at The Duck Blind — owned by Riley Green — in Nashville, TN on Monday, September 1. He teamed up with sponsors Realtree, Banded, Honey Brake, Outdoor Channel, Bergara, Bushnell, and Federal to present the film at an exclusive screening for family, friends, and special guests. The documentary officially launches September 21 on Realtree’s YouTube. He has opened up about The Hunts the Healing during a string of recent podcast appearances, including The Michael Waddell Podcast and Country Outdoors Podcast.
This fall, White also proudly presents his second “Benefit For The Brain” concert at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN on November 17. Once again, he will headline, host, and curate this very moving event. White’s non-profit The Benefit For The Brain will donate and disperse proceeds from the show to select charity organizations.
With the full lineup to be unveiled soon, the event focuses on three pillars close to the White’s heart: mental wellness for military and veterans, especially PTSD; brain health in children and adolescents; innovative approaches to stroke recovery and neurological treatment. The inaugural installment impressively sold out the Ryman, welcomed a diverse cohort of A-list artists (Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Colbie Caillat), and raised over $253,000 in the process. “Nights on Fire” follows the sunny and sizzling “Nuthin’ But a Smile,” which he personally produced and co-wrote alongside Shane Minor and Monty Criswell. Right out of the gate, Entertainment Focus hailed it as “a vibrant, sun-soaked glimpse of what’s ahead from the dynamic singer-songwriter,” going on to affirm, “the song delivers the signature blend of soul, grit, and southern charm fans have come to expect.” Holler touted it among the “Best New Country,” and Whiskey Riff featured the tune on its “Country New Music Friday” Spotify playlist. CMA plugged it on the “Fresh From Nashville” playlist, and CMT dropped it into “The Roundup.” Perhaps, Folio Weekly put it best, “No one knows damn country music like Drake White.” Listen to “Nuthin’ But a Smile” here.
Taking these new songs on the road, White will be canvasing North America through the end of 2025. He will headline his KEEP IT MOVIN’ TOUR in the fall, plus join Riley Green for the second leg of the RILEY GREEN: DAMN COUNTRY MUSIC TOUR. He’ll also appear at various festivals in addition to playing shows with friends such as Chase Rice, Travis Tritt, and Colt Ford. View all upcoming tour dates here.
