The nearly two-hour conversation touches on the storied legacies of both acts, illuminates their continued relevancy, and divulges the kinds of secrets and anecdotes Millennials have only wondered about since before Y2K. Robertson, McGrath, and Kreischer chop it up about everything from Napster’s effect on the music business to the well-documented benefits of “Sauna-ing.” They recall stories from over the years, while self-proclaimed “animation nerd” Robertson discloses that Barenaked Ladies’ seminal “One Week” almost served as the theme song for Shrek — until he actually turned the opportunity down. He likens the latter anthem to “the rapper’s delight of 1999” and espouses some wisdom, “I believe in having no guilty pleasures.”

Meanwhile, Kreischer took ownership of the music and raved of both bands, “You’re the generation we felt like we discovered.” When the subject of the 2023 LP In Flight came up, the host proudly told Robertson, “Your new album is Barenaked Ladies.”

At one point, Kreischer attempted to sing the Barenaked Ladies’ classic “If I Had $1,000,000” (shirtless) to which Robertson replied, “You’re awfully f*cking close, Bert!” as laughter erupted.

Additionally, PopDust sat down with the band for an in-depth interview on an episode of Jordan and Demi, going on to affirm, “For more than 30 years, Barenaked Ladies have been fixtures of pop culture.”

Stacking up appearances, Barenaked Ladies are taking over SiriusXM. Starting May 22 at 1pm ET, the Rock legends will appear on 90s on 9 (Ch. 9) for three guest DJ specials on “Last Mixtapes on Earth” – one with Robertson and Tyler Stewart, another co-hosted by Robertson, Stewart and Sugar Ray’s McGrath, and a third co-hosted by Robertson, Stewart and Tony Scalzo (Fastball). All Barenaked Ladies SiriusXM specials, including an exclusive performance from SiriusXM’s NYC studios on “Barenaked Songs with Barenaked Ladies,” will be available for rebroadcast throughout May on the SiriusXM app and web player. Plus, they just launched a special ticket giveaway on SiriusXM.

Last week, Barenaked Ladies unveiled their brand new digital-only EP, In Flight – Carry On, available on all streaming platforms. Listen here. Reinventing, reimagining, and recharging seven fan favorite tracks from 2023’s acclaimed album In Flight, the musicians strip these tunes down to the bare essentials with just acoustic instrumentation and vocals. The self-produced EP presents the music from a fresh perspective, highlighting the group’s impeccable songcraft and raw performances front-and-center. In this iteration, the hooks and melodies really soar in classic Barenaked Ladies fashion. In Flight is now also available in Dolby Atmos-mastered version here.

With the EP out, they’ll hit the road on the Last Summer On Earth 2025 Tour, beginning June 3 at Synovus Bank Amphitheater at Chastain Park in Atlanta, GA. The 38-city headline run continues through August 2 at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI. The band will also bring the eighth edition of their iconic tour to famed venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City, The Chicago Theater in Chicago, and a hometown show at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, ON. Alt-Rock mainstays Guster will join the bill from June 3 to 28 and Sugar Ray will hop on the lineup from July 8 to August 2 with Fastball accompanying as support on all shows. Tickets and Barenaked Ladies VIP Packages are on sale now. Go here for the full tour itinerary.

Meanwhile, the original In Flight marked their eighteenth studio album in an extraordinary career that’s included winning eight JUNO Awards, earning two GRAMMY nominations, being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and delivering massive hits like “One Week” (a No. 1 smash in the U.S.), Top 20 singles “Pinch Me” and “If I Had $1,000,000,” and the pop-culture-dominating “Big Bang Theory Theme.” In Flight is available digitally, on CD, and in a double-vinyl edition (both 180-gram white-colored and picture disc) here
