RECORDS Nashville hitmaker George Birge hears the call of his roots in “Back In The Country,” a swirling soundtrack of longing for small-town simplicity. Listen here.
Co-written by Birge with Matt Dragstrem, Chase McGill, and Michael Tyler, the vivid anthem continues Birge’s run of authentic emotional storytelling following current Top 40-and-climbing single “It Won’t Be Long.” Imagined as a dream which made reality all too clear (and reminded the country boy where his soul belongs), it’s all about rediscovering the slow lane joy he once had – a picture-perfect promised land centered on a little house, a little family, a little hard work, and a little fun.
Meanwhile, producers Daniel Ross and Matt Dragstrem bring “Back In The Country” into high-definition, capturing the magnetic pull of a peaceful rural life. Framed by a steady, swelling heartbeat of drums and distortion, electric and steel guitars echo across time and through Birge’s mind in a power ballad of returning to the good life – and staying there for good.
On a hot streak of back-to-back chart-toppers, Birge recently celebrated his latest #1 “Cowboy Songs” among key industry tastemakers, friends, and family – including his wife, Kara, and sons, George James and Luke. Hosting a party at Live Oak in Nashville, TN, last Wednesday (3/26), ASCAP, SESAC, SMACKSongs, Young Guns Publishing, and RECORDS Nashville honored ASCAP writer Birge, alongside his fellow songwriters and the producers of the hit.
Currently out on the road with Dylan Scott (COUNTRY TILL I DIE TOUR), Birge serves as direct support for Luke Bryan (COUNTRY SONG CAME ON TOUR) this summer. With major music festivals billed as well, including his debut at Stagecoach, find all upcoming show details here.
