DRAKE WHITE TAKES ‘THE BRIDGE’ EP TOWARD A RENEWED SENSE OF SOULFUL PURPOSE

Country-Soul troubadour Drake White reaches the solid ground of renewed creative purpose on his latest EP, ‘The Bridge’ (out today 10/6), sharing a seven-song collection of inspiration, love and conviction.

Marking a new post-recovery era for White after a life-changing on-stage stroke in 2019, ‘The Bridge’ builds on the songwriter-artist's well-established foundation of Country, Rock and rootsy R&B. It finds a self-proclaimed “old soul” and vocal master now more in tune with his world than ever, showcasing a philosophy of in-the-moment gratitude and limitless possibility.

Comprised of all-new tracks and reimagined versions of fan favorites off his 2022 studio album, THE OPTIMYSTIC, White co-wrote each song with hitmakers like Maren MorrisRyan HurdLeslie Satcher and more, while co-producing four and guiding the final three tracks solo.

Standout moments include a moving, harmony-laced duet between White and GRAMMY-winner Colbie Caillat for a special acoustic rendition of “Power of a Woman;” a rollicking rough-cut version of the sage anthem, “50 Years Too Late;” the smoky, simple-life sensuality of “Turn You On” and “Spirit,” a swaying traveler’s anthem with a hard-won sense of inner peace.

Meanwhile, “Ladder To The Sky” offers a comforting reminder to keep ones feet firmly in the here-and-now; the plucky “Happy Hour” aims to stretch our joyful moments out as long as possible (with help from Texas favorite Hayes Carll); and “Makin’ Me Look Good Again (Wedding Version)” celebrates the redemptive power of true romance.

Each one shines a light on the state of mind White has practiced in the wake of his ordeal, traversing troubled waters toward a destination filled with optimism and wonder.

“This project for me is a continuation of the spirit that got me through these last few years. Don’t quit, don’t give up - keep moving forward. I’m an artist and this EP is a true bridge to the next chapter of my music and it shows we are here to stay,” White shares.

ABOUT DRAKE WHITE:
Drake White grew up singing in his church’s youth choir in Alabama before becoming one of Country music’s most spirited innovators, earning four Top 40 hits and traveling the country on multiple nationwide tours. His 2013 debut single “Simple Life” introduced his brand of Country Soul, which he cemented with 2016 debut album SPARK followed by the EPs ‘Pieces’ and ‘Stars.’ In August 2019, he collapsed on stage due to a hemorrhagic stroke, and doctors told him he might never perform again. After undergoing a series of operations to repair his Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) and months of physiotherapy, White has proved them wrong, returning to the road to spread his incredible positivity to his fans. In 2022 he embarked on his headline THE OPTIMYSTIC TOUR, which spanned dates in the U.S. and the U.K., in support of his album THE OPTIMYSTIC, which is an inspiring glimpse into the journey he has taken over the past few years, and the “extremely accomplished album” (American Songwriter) delivers a “powerful message” (Nashville Lifestyles) via White’s “smooth brand of country-soul” (Billboard). With more music on the way, White released his EP ‘The Bridge’ in early October to mark a brand new era of self-re-discovery and purpose. White has received accolades including Rolling Stone’s 10 Country Artists You Need to Know, The Grammy’s Artist of Tomorrow and the British CMA Awards’ International Song of the Year and has shared the bill with Country music superstars like Luke Bryan, Eric Church and Zac Brown Band.
