SOPHIA SCOTT STAMPS OUT WILD NIGHT SHAME ON ANTHEMIC NEW SINGLE “NO YOU DIDN’T”

Today, Colorado-bred singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sophia Scott premieres her fierce and fun-loving new single “No You Didn’t.” An up-close-and-personal look at the aftermath of a wild night out, the no-regrets anthem is the latest release from her forthcoming debut album BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS, due out via EMPIRE on October 20. Listen to “No You Didn’t” here, and go here to pre-save/pre-add BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS now.

Co-written by ScottSam Derosa (Fitz and the Tantrums, Pentatonix), and Josh Murty (Maggie Lindemann, Niko Moon), “No You Didn’t” takes all the shame out of post-party remorse. As she details the “champagne mistakes” made and “dirty damage” done the night before, the Nashville-based artist spins a hilariously real portrait of an epic hangover (“I’m wearing lashes with glasses/Swigging Listerine in the car”). But thanks to her ingenious mix of humor, heart, and good-natured bravado, Scott ultimately turns the tongue-in-cheek but brutally self-aware track into an anthem of unlikely glory (from the sing-along-ready chorus: “I’m a real hot mess in my Sunday best and I’m smelling like bad decisions”).

Produced by Murty and recorded at his Los Angeles studio, “No You Didn’t” brings Scott’s brazen truth-telling to a hard-hitting backdrop of twangy guitar tones, potent beats, and swaggering stomp-and-clap percussion. Along with spotlighting the sheer strength and magnetism of Scott’s unforgettable voice, the track’s high-energy production amplifies its playful spirit with plenty of carefree gang vocals. The result: undeniable proof of the power in forgiving your own messy behavior, granting every listener permission to live regret-free and laugh at their misadventures.

Like all of BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS, “No You Didn’t” finds Scott fully leaning into her imperfections and speaking her truth without fear. The follow-up to her acclaimed debut EP One Of These Days — a 2022 release praised by the likes of People, American Songwriter, and E! News, who hailed it as an “emotional, fun, exploratory masterpiece” — BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS marks a bold leap forward for one of Country’s most exciting new stars as she responds in real time to the challenges of heartbreak. With its track list encompassing everything from tear-soaked ballads to girls-night-out anthems, the album brings her genre-blurring musicality to a one-of-a-kind sound inspired by ’90s Country-Pop, throwback Soul music, Southern Rock, and more. But no matter what form her songs take, Scott infuses every moment with her nuanced yet gutsy vocal performance and uncompromising emotional honesty.

Reaching yet another bucket list milestone in her career, Scott will celebrate BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS by making her Grand Ole Opry debut on release day (10/20). For tickets to see Scott, click here to learn more or call 1-800-SEE-OPRY.

Scott shares, “This is an absolute dream come true! I am so unbelievably honored and can’t even begin to express how grateful I am to be invited to step into the illustrious Circle. Making my debut at the Opry and singing on this stage that holds the legacy of Country music has me pinching myself. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Recorded in Nashville, Los Angeles, and Vail, Colorado, BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS also features the scorching lead single “Boots, Jeans, & Jesus” — a July release that drew raves from outlets like Holler, who called it a “cheekily knowing celebration of all the ups and downs…” In a testament to the dazzling scope of Scott’s artistry, the album also includes breathtakingly tender songs like “Lipstick on You,” an August single that MusicRow's DISClaimer deemed "[s]ultry and soul-tinged….Add some blues to your playlist with this dandy, stately lament.”

A breakthrough year for Scott, 2021 brought such triumphs as opening for the Jonas Brothers, landing on an artists-to-watch list from People, and inking her record deal with EMPIRE Nashville. The fast-rising artist maintained that momentum throughout 2022, when she delivered her widely acclaimed debut EP One Of These Days — a six-song project that earned praise from American SongwriterE! NewsEntertainment Tonight, and CMT (who stated that “Nashville newcomer Sophia Scott proves she has a bright future ahead in the genre”) and explored such complex subjects as watching her loved ones struggle with addiction (on the fan-favorite “Side Effects”). Along with signing a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music and Ross Golan’s Unknown Music Publishing in 2022, Scott will release her debut album BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS on October 20, via EMPIRE.
