SOPHIA SCOTT ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS

Today, Colorado-bred singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sophia Scott announces the forthcoming release of her hotly anticipated debut album, BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS. Due out via EMPIRE on October 20, the Nashville-based artist’s first full-length is up-close, unapologetic, and undeniably true-to-life. Go here to pre-save/pre-add BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS now.

The follow-up to her acclaimed debut EP One Of These Days — a 2022 release praised by the likes of PeopleAmerican Songwriter, and E! News, who hailed it as an “emotional, fun, exploratory masterpiece” — BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS marks a bold leap forward for one of Country’s most daringly honest young stars. To that end, the album finds Scott responding in real time to the unraveling challenges of heartbreak, instilling her songwriting with equal parts raw feeling, self-aware reflection, and wildly irreverent humor.

“I think the beauty of this album is that it’s actually telling the story of what I’m going through in real time," Scott explains. "There’s no rule book for how to deal with a breakup, and while I wish I was the girl that was healing by doing a bunch of yoga and drinking green juice, I unfortunately tend to lean into some unhealthier coping mechanisms. It’s exhausting trying to hold up a stable image when you feel like you’re learning to walk again through a new phase of life. I am always drawn to human imperfection because that’s what makes someone interesting. I definitely don’t want to pretend to have it all together - it’s quite the opposite - and I hope the music resonates with people because of that."

Built on a one-of-a-kind sound inspired by ’90s Country-Pop, throwback Soul music, Southern Rock, and more, BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS offers up everything from tear-soaked ballads to girls-night-out anthems celebrating the glorious thrill of newly rediscovered freedom. But no matter what form her songs take, Scott infuses every moment with her nuanced yet gutsy vocal performance and fierce commitment to emotional truth.

“To me every song on this album feels like a barstool confession, like when you’re sitting next to a stranger at a bar and telling them your whole life story,” says Scott. “As the night goes on, you’re getting more honest about what’s on your mind—that old ‘the drunk mind speaks a sober heart’ situation.”

Recorded in Nashville, Los Angeles, and Vail, Colorado, BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS features the scorching lead single Boots, Jeans, & Jesus” — a July release that drew raves from outlets like Holler, who called it a “cheekily knowing celebration of all the ups and downs..." In a testament to the dazzling scope of Scott’s artistry, the album also includes breathtakingly tender and delicately detailed songs like Lipstick on You,” an August single that MusicRow's DISClaimer deemed "[s]ultry and soul-tinged….Add some blues to your playlist with this dandy, stately lament.” Look out for more new music soon, and check out the full tracklist to BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS below.

ABOUT SOPHIA SCOTT:
Based in Nashville but raised in Colorado, Sophia Scott has blazed her own bold trail to Country stardom. With a rare gift for raw yet exquisitely detailed storytelling — and a one-of-a-kind sound infused with elements of Southern Rock, Pop, R&B, and Soul — the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist has amassed over 92 MILLION career streams and drawn nearly ONE MILLION monthly listeners to date. Growing up in Boulder, she took up piano and guitar as a child and soon started composing songs of her own, then further developed her unforgettably candid songwriting voice upon kicking off her music career in Los Angeles. During her six years in L.A., Scott found early success with singles like 2018’s “White Fence” and 2019’s “Drink Too Much Wine” (both featured on coveted playlists like Spotify’s New Music Friday), but ultimately relocated to Nashville and immersed herself in sharpening her craft. A breakthrough year for Scott, 2021 brought such triumphs as opening for the Jonas Brothers, landing on an artists-to-watch list from People, and inking her record deal with EMPIRE Nashville. The fast-rising artist maintained that momentum throughout 2022, when she delivered her widely acclaimed debut EP One Of These Days — a six-song project that earned praise from American SongwriterE! NewsEntertainment Tonight, and CMT (who stated that “Nashville newcomer Sophia Scott proves she has a bright future ahead in the genre”) and explored such complex subjects as watching her loved ones struggle with addiction (on the fan-favorite “Side Effects”). Along with signing a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music and Ross Golan’s Unknown Music Publishing in 2022, Scott will release her debut album BARSTOOL CONFESSIONS on October 20, via EMPIRE.
