FIND CHARLES ESTEN “IN A BAR SOMEWHERE” IN NEW RELEASE

Multi-talent Charles Esten returns to a past haunt “In A Bar Somewhere,” available across all streaming platforms and digital retailers today (6/23). Marking the third release off his highly anticipated debut album, listen here.

Co-written by Esten with Neil Medley and Jason Gantt on Zoom while the celebrated actor was on-location in Barbados for Netflix’s global hit Outer Banks in 2021, the hypnotic Marshall Altman-produced track mixes quiet beauty with a sense of secret turmoil, all in dreamlike detail. Stuck in an emotional loop, constantly replaying smoky memories of a past love that was once perfect – only to fade like a beach town sunset – its lyrics pine for an unforgettable romance and the senses it brought to life: “In a bar somewhere / We’re still drinking and laughing / Not thinkin’ ‘bout what’s gonna happen / We’re still dancing right there.” The track ebbs and flows like the tide, with love coming in close enough to touch … only to leave once again. Esten pairs the woozy, heartbroken theme with an equally dramatic Roots-Rock sound, vividly calling to the one who got away with deep blue vocals, ringing reverb, and a hauntingly memorable hook.

Heading out on the road co-headlining with Julia Cole on their EVERY MINUTE EVERY MILE TOUR 2023 in July, Esten next has a major performance set for July 4 on PBS’ A Capitol Fourth live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Backed by the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jack Everly, the annual Independence Day celebration is hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro with additional performances by Chicago, Boyz II Men, Belinda Carlisle, Babyface, Renée Fleming, Maddie & Tae, Broadway stars Adrienne Warren and Ruthie Ann Miles, Elmo and Cookie Monster from Sesame Street, the Northwell Nurse Choir, and the Broadway cast of A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical featuring Will Swenson and Robyn Hurder. A Capitol Fourth airs live on July 4 on PBS at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT (check local listings), as well as on the American Forces Network, NPR member stations, and will stream on www.pbs.org/a-capitol-fourth, Facebook, and YouTube. It will be available on demand from July 4-18.
