TRACE ADKINS PERFORMS “GOT IT DOWN” ON NBC’S TODAY

MULTI-PLATINUM Country star Trace Adkins is building momentum before the launch of his next album, including a special appearance on NBC’s TODAY last Friday (8/20).

On hand to discuss with anchors Hoda & Jenna his upcoming 25th anniversary album, THE WAY I WANNA GO plus upcoming film APACHE JUNCTION (in theaters and on-demand 9/24), Adkins also closed out the hour with the debut performance of brand-new song from the soon-to-be released album called “Got It Down.” Listen to the new track HERE now.

"THE WAY I WANNA GO just kind of encapsulates the way I feel about everything,” Adkins explains to Hoda & Jenna from NBC’s TODAY about his upcoming album. “I’ve had a great ride. It's been a great run, and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I've been allowed to live out my dream, and if it all ended today, it was awesome. And I got to go the way I wanted to go.”

Featuring a rollicking honky-tonk vibe, a strutting backbeat and the booming-but-friendly baritone Adkins has perfected over two-and-a-half decades, “Got It Down” is an up-tempo standout with a message of pure-Country pride. It’s a fun-loving tribute to those who never give up and always make things happen – delivered with Adkins’ signature charisma – and fans can stream or download the track now via all digital retailers.

“It’s just a fun song, and I like what it says,” Adkins shares of the tune, co-written by Craig Wiseman with Brandon Kinney. “It does reflect how I feel, since this is a reflective period in my career, looking back on 25 years. I’ve just never given up, even when times were tough and it looked bleak, I just don’t give up. So, when it comes to never giving up, I got it down.”

Earlier on the show, Adkins surprised NBC TODAY’s longtime executive producer Joanne LaMarca with a special send off for her last day, singing a heartfelt rendition of the hit, “You’re Gonna Miss This.” “That song changed the way I live my life,” LaMarca tells Adkins. “It’s become my motto.” Watch the touching farewell celebration HERE

Marking Adkins’ 13th studio album, THE WAY I WANNA GO features 25 tracks in total plus a top-shelf guest list featuring Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder on harmonica and more.

The project arrives on August 27, and two days earlier, the Grand Ole Opry member will serve as a presenter at the 14th annual ACM Honors in Nashville (8/25).

Adkins is currently on the road with longtime friend and collaborator Blake Shelton, appearing on select dates of the FRIENDS & HEROES 2021 Tour, and has additional headlining dates scheduled into 2022.
