MORGAN WALLEN SHATTERS COUNTRY STREAMING RECORDS

Proving his staying power and piling on to his “skyrocketing fame” (EXTRA), Big Loud Records’ superstar Morgan Wallen shattered Country streaming records at both Apple Music and Spotify with his latest “7 Summers” released Friday (8/14).

The “swoon-worthy nostalgic track” (Billboard) set the new Apple Music first day record for a Country song with the most streams ever (4.6 MILLION), debuting at #3 on the Global Top 100 chart while topping the Country Songs charts in both the U.S. and Canada. Only trailing Drake (feat. Lil Durk)’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” and Cardi B (feat. Megan Thee Stallion)’s viral “WAP,” “7 Summers” makes an international statement across all genres with its unprecedented debut.

Setting the historic bar at Spotify, "7 Summers" now holds the biggest all-time first day record for a Country track by a solo artist, reaching #3 on the U.S. all-genre Top 200 chart upon release. Fans swarmed to hear the full version of Wallen’s easy-going summer soundtrack after the song’s initial popularity took hold on social media, arriving with “the most consistent stamp of approval signifying a smash these days: it’s already viral at TikTok” (HITS).

EARLY PRAISE FOR “7 SUMMERS”

"If 'easy listening' were still a bonafide genre, the languid '7 Summers' would go straight to the top of the charts as the melody, Wallen’s wistful vocals, Joey Moi’s pitch-perfect production and the yearning for a time and love long gone pack a gentle wallop."
— Billboard

"Morgan Wallen's hot streak is about to go nuclear." — HITS

"'7 Summers' has a faint tinge of Eighties country and soft rock coursing through its ringing, suspended chords and Joey Moi’s atmospheric production. It perfectly fits the mood of Wallen’s story, in which he reminisces about someone he once loved but whose memory lingers on.”
— Rolling Stone

"Built on a sunset country vibe with layered guitars and a daydreamy vocal, it finds the star reminiscing about a romance that keeps getting farther away. But no matter how much time passes, the details of that unforgettable summer are all too vivid, making for a bittersweet anthem full of second guesses." — Sounds Like Nashville

"transport listeners to a tropical paradise with its breezy, island-influenced melody."
— The Boot

The ACM New Male Artist of the Year nominee furthers his newsworthy week with yesterday’s announcement of his new “Happy Hour Radio” show with Apple Music Country. Hosted by Wallen himself and spinning some of his favorite songs across genres and musical eras, the show will be packed with fun, feel-good tunes that celebrate the important things – good times, great company and the best upbeat music. Debuting Friday, August 28 from 4-6 p.m. PT on Apple Music, the bi-monthly show will also feature a companion playlist updated with each new episode.

The wave of critical acclaim, streaming milestones and all-new radio gig come quickly behind Wallen’s last historic achievement – reaching the summit of Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with debut album IF I KNOW ME 114 weeks after its release – an unmatched feat that solidifies his place as “one of the most exciting stars in the genre” (Forbes), building excitement in anticipation of his forthcoming sophomore album. His current Top 25-and-rising single “More Than My Hometown” serves alongside “7 Summers” and “This Bar” as a preview of what’s to come on the project.
