SONGS & DAUGHTERS DEBUTS PUBLISHING ARM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BIG LOUD PUBLISHING AND WARNER CHAPPELL MUSIC

With BMI Songwriter of the Year (2019) Nicolle Galyon at the helm, Nashville’s first-of-its-kind female-driven label, Songs & Daughters, announced its Publishing arm, in partnership with Big Loud Publishing and Warner Chappell Music, exclusively with American Songwriter today (6/29). Signing emerging artist Tiera as the flagship songwriter, this expansion of the landmark label approaches the one-year anniversary since launching in July 2019.

“I’ve worked with Warner Chappell since 2007, and I’ve had the opportunity to sign writers,” Galyon, President and CEO of Songs & Daughters, admitted to American Songwriter, “but with everything going on, I never really felt like I could give a writer what they deserve. We truly have the best group of staff in town working together [now], so I felt like it was a situation where I really could give Tiera what she deserves in her first publishing deal.”

Founded in partnership with Big Loud Records, Songs & Daughters was established to serve as a music home for female creatives that nurtures both the art (the song) and the artist (the daughter). The brand-new Publishing sector will continue its mission, alongside Big Loud Publishing and Warner Chappell Music, as it thrives in an atmosphere of collaboration between Songs & Daughters artists and songwriters. Creating an in-house culture that’s tailor-made, Galyon is dedicated to nurturing the company’s roster in all facets of artist development, providing strong female leadership and mentorship that she wishes she had when she first moved to Nashville, TN, 18 years ago.

“Tiera is an amazing writer and artist whose talent is undeniable. Her positive energy and enthusiasm continually inspire us,” shares Big Loud Publishing's Kimberly Gleason, Director of Operations. “On behalf of the Big Loud Publishing team, we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Nicolle [Galyon] (Songs & Daughters) and Warner Chappell Music in this signing.”

“Exciting day to see the continued evolution of our longtime partner Nicolle [Galyon] as a publisher, and thrilled to start this new journey with the light that is inside the incredible Tiera,” says Ben Vaughn, President & CEO of Warner Chappell Music Nashville. “Always a pleasure to be working with Seth [England] and the talented Big Loud team as well. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate Songs & Daughters’ one-year anniversary.”

Galyon was first introduced to Tiera’s music on SoundCloud in 2019, long before meeting the 22-year-old singer-songwriter in person. With then-future plans of launching Songs & Daughters Publishing, she’s built a working rapport with Tiera over the last year. Currently among CMT Next Women of Country Class of 2020 and the platform’s year-long 2020 LISTEN UP campaign, the Birmingham, AL-native first gained national attention after winning her episode of USA Network’s Real Country, following an invitation two years ago to join the music competition show by Country icon Shania Twain. She started teaching herself guitar at age 13 with YouTube videos, with her sights set on relocating to Nashville, TN, to foster a Country music career.

“I remember sitting in my bedroom listening to all of Nicolle’s songs, dissecting them and trying to learn how to write myself,” Tiera recalled to American Songwriter. “So it was on my list to be able to write with her when I moved here [to Nashville], and never in a million years would I have thought that I would be one of the first writers with her publishing company.”

“The way she writes songs is positive and refreshing – she writes a lot of up-tempos, and everyone’s always on the lookout for that,” Galyon revealed to American Songwriter about Tiera. “With everything that’s going on [in the world], the way she writes songs, it’s just so positive and hopeful, so I think it’s really perfect timing for other artists to be hearing what she’s writing.”

Blossoming since its introduction, Songs & Daughters recently announced its partnership with critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Hailey Whitters and her label, Pigasus Records, as they’ll carry forward marketing and promotion with Big Loud Records of her self-released album, THE DREAM. Flagship artist Madison Kozak is also a rising star on the label, listing CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2020 and their 2020 LISTEN UP campaign among her accolades, as well as being featured on “Artists to Watch” 2020 lists like PandoraPop Culture, and Sounds Like Nashville. Since signing with Songs & Daughters, she's premiered at the Grand Ole Opry with breakout “First Last Name,” and has toured the U.S. and Europe.
