SHE SAID YES: HOME FREE’S ADAM CHANCE POPS THE QUESTION

All-vocal Country entertainers HOME FREE are premiering one of their most special videos to date with their version of Jason Isbell’s iconic tune, “Cover Me Up.”

Premiering exclusively with PEOPLE today, the brand-new clip features the group’s renowned harmonies, with Adam Chance (baritone), taking the lead in more ways than one. As the video progresses, a young couple’s love story unfolds on the screen, but the surprise arrives when the clip ends in not one, but two engagements – the latter being that of Chance and his longtime girlfriend Samantha (Sami) Matarante.

Chance had hoped to propose in Paris while the couple was overseas on the DIVE BAR SAINTS WORLD TOUR earlier this year, but due to travel bans and that leg of the tour being canceled midway through, those plans were derailed. A few days after returning to the states, Chance decided to improvise – and now, he’s sharing the home-footage of the life moment in the group’s latest video.

"I had carried the ring around the entire tour in preparation for that day," Chance shares exclusively with PEOPLE. "But on March 12, we had to suddenly cancel the rest of our tour and head home due to the pandemic. So, there I was, sitting at home, unsure of when or where I'd even have an opportunity to make it happen, considering we were stuck inside our home for the foreseeable future."

"March 17 was our two-year anniversary, so I just decided to go for it," he continues. "We were wearing onesies, and she thought we were about to record something goofy for Instagram — but I got down on one knee instead. I couldn't wait. It was the best decision I've ever made."

Chance surprised Matarante with a one-of-a-kind symbol of their love – a custom-made ring featuring a moonstone with a topaz overlay and accent diamonds on a dainty gold band.

“It almost has an elvish feel to it,” Chance tells PEOPLE, “like something out of a fantasy novel or fairy tale.”

Coming up, the newly-engaged Chance and the rest of Home Free are hoping to hit the road again this fall to continue on their massive DIVE BAR SAINTS WORLD TOUR through next year.
